CLASS DESCRIPTION

Jae has explored the depths of resin for over 10 years and has worked for highly regarded resin pioneers in the jewellery and homewares industry, join her for this 3 hour introduction into the addictive world of resin.

Working with a quick setting polyurethane resin, you will be able to select from our wide range of silicon moulds to make 2 sets of jewellery including a ring and bangle in each set. Develop your own colour recipes with ease by mixing pigments and dyes. Choose on-trend hues or create your own inspired pallettes, the colour options are endless. You will also learn how to sand and finish your pieces to a professional standard, ready to walk out the door adorning your very own creations.

SKILL PREREQUISITE

No previous experience required.

ESSENTIAL TECHNIQUES COVERED

* Basic introduction to polyurethane resin.

* Basic introduction to pigments and dyes.

* Overview of resin safety.

* How to mix and colour resin using opaque, translucent and pearlescent pigments, dyes and powders.

* How to correctly pour and cast resin using silicon moulds.

* How to hand finish your pieces using sandpaper and polishing pads.

* Overview on how to professionally finish your pieces using motorised tools.

GENERAL INFORMATION

SJS also offers a 2 day workshop which participants of this course may choose to do at a later stage, a discount of 10% off the course fee is given to students who go on to complete our 2 day workshop. Please email us at info@sydneyjewelleryschool.com.au if you are interested in booking both classes.

OH&S protocols at SJS requires all students to wear CLOSED IN shoes and for long hair to be tied back. We recommend that glasses are worn instead of contact lenses and minimal jewellery is worn in a studio environment.

This class is not recommended for pregnant women.
