CLASS DESCRIPTION

Join Neva Brown for a 4 week course to learn "From Basics to Elegance in Designing with Seed Beads".

Neva is an award winning and publlished beading artist, who will guide you to a better understanding of some basic beading techniques. This class is designed for both the complete novice who has no experience and the relative newcomer to bead weaving who may wish to refine their techniques and skills to improve their work.

During this 4 week course week course, you will cover four basic stitches to create pieces that you can wear on their own, or, combine to create a standout piece of jewellery. Throughout this time you will also be shown quick techniques and shortcuts in bead weaving, how to mix and match components and how to create the perfect colour and texture combinations which will enable you to create unique pieces of beaded jewellery for your yourself, friends and family.

SKILL PREREQUISITE

No prior experience is required, this class is open to all.

* Peyote Stitch

* Ndebele ( Herringbone) Stitch

* Netting Stitch

* CRAW - Cubic Right Angle Weave Stitch

* RAW - Right Angle Weave Stitch

* How to make toggles

* How to calculate the perfect length and fit for your design

* The loan of a plier tool kit if required.

WHAT TO BRING AND MATERIAL FEE

WEEK 1 - You will recieve two kits in the first week, one will be your beads, the second will contain all your materials such as needles, threads, stringing materials and a number of other items which you will need to bring to class each week. The combined cost for both kits is $40

WEEK 2 to WEEK 4  your bead kit fee will vary depending on the beads chosen and the size of the project. Allow $18-$30 per week.



These are purchased directly from your teacher. Cash only and please bring correct change.



You will be told each week the fee for the following week.

GENERAL INFORMATION

OH&S protocols at SJS require all students to wear closed in shoes and for long hair to be tied back. We recommend that glasses are worn instead of contact lenses and minimal jewellery is worn in a studio environment.
